Format documents with text, tables and images

Make procedures easy to scan using meaningful headings, short steps and supporting images.

Open the editor

Open a document and choose Edit in its content area. Use Save changes to persist your work. Uploading an image does not save the rest of the document automatically.

Document editor with formatting toolbar and Markdown and HTML modes

Choose Markdown or HTML

The editor provides Markdown and HTML modes. Choose the mode that preserves the formatting your document needs.

Need

Guidance

Headings, emphasis, lists, links and code

Use the corresponding toolbar control.

Underline or highlighted text

Use HTML; these controls are disabled in Markdown.

Retaining a resized image's dimensions

Use HTML. Markdown does not preserve resized-image settings.

A procedure readers can follow

Use a heading for each task and a numbered list for ordered steps.

Comparable values

Use a table with clear column headings.

Add an image

Use Insert Image, paste an image into the editor, or drag an image file into the content area. Wait for uploads to complete before saving. Keep important instructions in text as well as in the image.

Use screenshots that show the relevant controls at a readable size. Avoid including customer data, credentials or unrelated browser content.

Add links and tables

Select meaningful link text, then use Insert/Edit Link. Prefer labels such as “Backup recovery procedure” over “click here.”

Use Insert Table for short comparisons or reference information. Keep long procedures outside tables so they remain readable on narrow screens.

Save and check

  1. Finish the formatting and wait for uploads to complete.

  2. Choose Save changes.

  3. Review the document in read mode.

  4. Reopen it to confirm the saved result.

Cancel abandons the current content-editing session. Other staged record changes may remain; review the drawer before leaving.
